Training Plan- Pastry Chef

We will be training only two pastry chef for 1 out of the 5 quick service restaurants we have here at Splashy Adventure Island. It will be a one on one training session, lasting for about 3-4 days.In those days we will demo all of our pastry menu items, and also cover safety procedures in case of an accident or emergency.  A follow-up training will also take place twice a year to make sure standards are met and keeping updated on the menu items. They will be trained by some of the top pastry chefs around the world. After the training is over, they need to prepare all the menu items in less than 6 hours. After that, the famous pastry chefs will judge them on time management, their presentation on the pastry, teamwork, and the most important part, the taste. 25% of our budget will be put into labor, 35% for materials, and 40% for delivery. Most of the budget is put into delivery so that we can attract more guests into our quick service restaurant. We spend 35% on materials because we believe in higher is not the best quality ingredients.  Our remaining 25% budget will be spent on labor because working in a fast-paced environment can be stressful. We will higher additional employees to reduce the stress levels.

I choose “Group sessions” to deliver my orientation because we want to make the training more efficient and make the co-worker know each other well. 5 hours would be enough for the orientation. For well done their job, I will make sure that 60% of the material focus on general property knowledge, and 20% focus on local area specifics within property because some of the guests are coming from the local area, 20% focus on overall corporate culture to acquire the value of the company.

For the key activity, I will show them around the whole Water Parks and their work area to make sure that they are familiar with everything. I need children activities coordinator for my department, and with the results of analysis, we can make the training more efficient and targeted. Everything that the children activities coordinator does is regard to the safety and the care for children, so the professional training of the external trainers is necessary for them. For the style of training, I will choose role plays to make sure the training active, classroom to gather around the employee together, E-learning to test their skills about their job, video vs. live to see what others do and games to increase friendship and make the class funny. We have 5 hours training; 2 hours should be dedicated to on-the-job training. About the training session, I will make it into the schedule once for every three months, to make sure that the employees would always have awareness for everything they do and the understanding for the company. For measure the training’s effectiveness, I choose observation, through observation, we can find where the problem is and to get rid of it. 30% of the overall budget will be spent in the labor, this is a reasonable number for the remuneration of the labor force. And 40% will be in because a series of facilities could make the guests and employees both fun there. Another 30% will be spent in delivery because the promotion of all kinds of activities is important for the development of business.

Role selected: custodial

LOB selected: one bath house

The style of training plan and orientation will be job and task analysis in order to understand what is the custodial job and what do the custodial has to do for clean environment. Department level trainers who people who work there understand real situation will train new trainees. In case studies, trainees can understand and get practice in real situation. Training time will be 4 hours × 3 days, so its total will be 12 because OJT is most important for the custodial job and this job is not office work. Also  I consider follow-up training session will be needed once a month because the custodial tend to do what they have

There should be follow-up training session once a month because I think that the custodial will tend to do their jobs without passion, but they should entertain guests. In addition, I will measure the training's effectiveness by observation, so trainer should check trainees' work by their own. Cost will be 90 % for labor, 10% for materials, and 0% for delivery, because for the custodial, the venue are not needed. Also, I think we will use some piece of paper on orientation days as materials.

                                                             Training for our resort:

We will deliver our orientation by group sessions because it is not very difficult to teach about the outline of our resort and business for a group of people. Also, they can know each other. Time will be 5 hours because we will teach about not only our water park but also our entire resort. We will focus on 60% general property knowledge because this is most important and we want employees to know entire of our business. Moreover, we will focus on each 20% local area specific within the property and overall corporate culture. A key activity is to welcome our water park as a guest to understand guests' feeling and what they have to do their job.

We will be training our groundskeeper in many creative and effective ways to ensure that they are ready for the job. In order to determine what training is necessary, we will do job and task analysis. We will have a dedicated space in a yard where we can simulate real life scenarios. This will be the best method because we can work on improving a new-hires weakness instead of enforcing something they’re already proficient on. We will have designated department level trainers who will conduct this training. Our trainers are extremely proficient in their job areas and will get a generous compensation for doing so. The style of training will include role plays, classroom training, video vs. live scenarios, and shadowing of a trainer.  The time dedicated to the training will be eight hours, with a 30-minute lunch. This is enough time to understand all the details and components of the job and also discuss safety. The grounds keeper training will not require a follow-up training because employees will receive the necessary training in one day. We will be measuring the effectiveness of this training with surveys and observations. The cost will be distributed as follows: labor- 25%, Delivery- 25%, and materials- 50%. Materials will be getting the most from the budget because as a groundskeeper it will be important for employees to be exposed to the equipment. When they start working they will be fully prepared it.
